Background heat for shed
I am hoping for some advice please- my 11 year old Hermanns are going to be living outside rather than in a tortoise table in colder weather (except when hibernating) from this year. They have an outdoor run, green house and insulated house within a shed. They will have a basking/ UV lamp during the day but I want to be able to keep a suitable background temperature for them when it's colder in their house- would people recommend a bar heater or ceramic heat emitter?

I would go for the tubular heater as big as possible and set it up with a stat to control the heat.

I have never used ceramics but did speak to a friend who changed to tubulars because she said the ceramic only heated the corner it was in where as the tubular had heat over a wider area.

Reckon tube is best as Gordon says, but don't forget it will be lite up at night so ceramics could play a good role at night when temps drop too. CB
