Forgive me as I am a total novice, but what are the advantages of building a (very impressive!) outdoor enclosure when it is entirely blocked to the sun? Or will you be adding an 'outdoor' component to it?

It's just a heated shed, a very big house for her to sleep and spend the winter months. The outdoor part is my whole garden she has free roam of it. Because of the size of her I found that to be easier than covering a section off.

Aha - perfect! The ultimate, deluxe version - very impressive! How big is she and how big will she grow to?

one little tip we learnt is if you make the door as small as will allow the tort to enter you'll stop the loss of heat and drafts, the entrance can then 'grow' with the tort. You could easily block off 3/4 of the height of the door the other alternative is to hand the heavy strip plastic that they use in refrigerated units, the tort will soon learn to push through.
