Fun day conservation project needing volunteers
I am looking for volunteers to join Just Me and my Tortoise for a 'fun day' project this summer, at a weekend (date to be announced). Imagine a large group of Chelonia loving people having great fun in waders, boots and getting very messy amongst reptile friends (old and new) and enjoying free food and drink in the Kent countryside! That's us!
Just Me and my Tortoise were asked to help re-home a large number of terrapins from a London Council pond where they had been 'dumped' over many years. We have hopefully found them a new home at Beaver Water World, but need your help! Beaver Water World are upgrading their large pond this summer and are looking for volunteers to help transform this overgrown area and mucky pond into a beautiful residence for these new arrivals. This is planned for a dry weekend and once everyone has let me know they can help, I will organise a weekend that suits us all. The press will be there too! It will be great fun, lots of laughs, and a free visit round the reptile zoo and refreshments will be provided for all volunteers. Can't guarantee you will stay dry so bring spare clothes! Those terrapins and I are waiting for your help and to hear from you, so please PM me or contact me somehow. See you at the pond! For travelling - if you can get to where we have the majority of our meetings then getting to this project will be no problem. For those who would like to come along and need accommodation please PM me, letting me know how many for / what you are looking for and your budget and I will try and help. I will also try and arrange lifts for people too.
Happy to help you if I can. Wendy |

It will be both days so people can enjoy the fun of both or just one. Can I put you down for the Sunday then?

i am hopefully going to be able to take my tent ( if their is a campsite local) soi should be able to offer accomodation for a few people. i do a great bacon butty and may even be able to offer to cellect people on route from liverpool as we also have a 8 seater minibus.
Wendy, can i just ask if there is a minimum age? my eldest kids want to help out and if they could come along then my OH could come aswell and he already has waders and a lots of experience doing this sprt of thing . plus , he makes a wicked cuppa!
