looks superb and he should be a very happy tort when he's in there
however, as many people have said don't make it too fancy as he will make a mess of it also, if you give him half a chance he will eat the plants. one minor suggestion: the sand soil mix for the substrate is probably not so good as it is too sandy. a mix of 70 soil to 30 sand is often recommended, personally i use 90 soil to 10 sand.

I had mine in the office when they were tiny but moved them to the front room as there's hardly any natural light get in the office and they loved it when the sun came out and shone into the table, also as they were near the patio doors they would be open on sunny days, you can't beat some natural light and fresh air, they could have their uv and heating off when the sun was out.

I don't think that they smell, I never have they do smelly poos but thats not very often and easily picked up, in fact I can smell my birds more, all mammals smell more, however if I was worried about animals/pets smelling then maybe I'd think twice about having them, they should be positioned to suit their needs as well as ours and fresh air/ sunlight is I think essential for any outside/hot climate animal, unless they are going outside in the summer which hopefully they all do,
