can i creasote on wood

sorry for spelling been to jacksons and the only wood they have needs to be treated with creasote

can i use that on the torts enclosure wood ????

This stuff is no longer legal. It is also outdated. Use Cuprinol wood preserver. It is harmless to wildlife once dry, but give it plenty of time for fumes to disipate before introducing your tort to anything treated with it.

If this is for an outside enclosure, you can get pre-treated wood, that would have been treated at least a few weeks before you buy it. If you don't like the colour, Cuprinol do a wide variety of colours for wood/wooden garden furniture so you just pick a colour you like.
We bought pressure treated wood last year, because we were sinking the posts of the enclosure in the ground, then bought colours we liked and painted over the exposed wood, so it had 2 treatments!

so it should last a long time and look good.

bought some timbercare from b and q at the weekend said on tin/tub safe for animals when dry

so sorted there

pies you mentioned creosote illegal they had some in b and q on the bottom shelf

the wood that my jacksons for the length i need needs treating to go outside to last

but been looking into putting two planks together

Hi I was wondering if anyone can help I have just built a new outdoor enclosure using picket fences however they have just been creasoted! Do you think this will be ok as I've dug up all the areas where creasote could have been thank you

Is it creosote or creosote substitute? I think the original creosote was outlawed by the EU in 2013, they were reviewing it at least. I doubt that it will do any harm, people used to have creosoted railway sleepers in their gardens along with torts, did it ever do them harm, I don't know for sure but assume they'd have to eat it for that to happen
