Hi Lisa,
It looks absolutely fantastic! And it's been great to see the construction right from the beginning. You should hire yourself out as a sort of Laurence Llewellyn Bowen of the tortoise community <g>. Just one question: on a really sunny and hot day (which we probably won't get any more) would you have to cover the glass roof of the house to keep it from getting too hot? |

well nina hopefully if we get any of those days the tort will be outside under plants soaking up the rays plus we have created the polycarbon front so if house became too hot the tort could move out onto that bit which has concret slabs on bottom, 2 sides of polycarbon, 2 side of wooden fencing plus a polcarbon roof
the window is just sat on top of the house so it can be removed easily or even twisted to create air flow to let heat escape thanks for all your compliments guys. I am married to a carpenter who is also a perfectionist. so he does tend to go over board with his construction. but then I love to give my torts the best possible home that I can so I am just as bad really only problem now is that we have up-staged my Iberas enclosure so that will be my next project

just one problem I haven't told tom yet although the fence and greenhouse are already in place so will probably be more things for me to do than Tom this time need to remove some grass, create some visual barriers as you can currently see straight across from one side to the other, water feature needs re-doing as I think Iberas have torn pool lining with claws as water is draining away very quickly, needs some more planting plus rocky has disappeared under grass, and the list goes on. rest first to do some planning will start a new thred in due course ps now really excited just gone from egg to incubating

well you know I said Tom was a perfectionist
he was not happy with the white window so he has been out this morning and coated it the same colour as the house. he is much more happy with it now don't think we will need heat lamps for a while yet time 11:00 temp 100 deg sky overcast PS really pleased that my post has had over 1000 views glad that you have all enjoyed the construction of my new tort enclosure as much as I have. now just need to wait and see what the leopard thinks, hope she enjoys it as much Lisa
