musks live in the water, he has a dry basking spot and light but i have never seen him use it, they rarely do. he has gobbled a few fish, but now that he is in a big tank with a varied diet, he actually lives in harmony with the fish! the shrimps were live food, although he did struggle to catch them! i literally watch him for hours, he is such a character. when i get the food out he sees the pot and gets so excited.. dashes over to me. even when its the fish food he thinks its for him lol! i spoil him rotten, every couple of days i give him some salmon or prawns or mussels, he swims all round the tank with it in his mouth, then gobbles it up cutie pie! Such a lovely clear tank you have there. The photos are brilliant and your little turt is adorable. Does he have a name?

aww thanks, we have a nice big filter and keep on top of the water changes so that helps to get clear water and clear pics. his tank is next to my sofa so i get to make the most of his photo opportunities, just whip the phone out and snap away! When i found out that common musk turtles had the nick name 'stinkpot turtles' i thought is was so adorable, so i called him Stinkpot :P though he also gets called 'stinky' and 'stinks' haha. Love him so much! x

musks swim around the tank and surface for air, mine comes up every 5-10 minutes normally and loves swimming round and climbing up plants and rocks. they do need a basking area with heat lamp and uv so they can have the opportunity but musks are the least likely to use it. He does stick his head completly out of the water sometimes, i call it 'face basking'
