Default turtles

hello i have been told this may be the best place to get advice about my turtles,my yellow belly slider has just laid two eggs,one broken but i have retrieved the other,i am looking for advice on incubation and also if i can check the fertility of the egg

Did she nest or lay the eggs in the water? Do you have an incubator? If you don't the very least you will have to do is to get a container and put an inch and a half layer of perlite or vermiculite in the bottom. First though mix the vermiculite/perlite with equal parts water by weight. So an ounce of perlite/vermiculite with an ounce of water as an example. Put the cover on the container after you have made a couple of small holes in the container cover. Place the whole thing in a warm spot while you get or make your incubator.

Unless you intend on keeping or already have a good home for it, I probably wouldn't attempt to incubate it. There are so many unwanted YBS already.

Otherwise follow Dannys advice and good luck

have you got a male? if you havnt it wont be fertile. YBS females lay eggs if fertilised or not / male present or not.

yes i have a male turtle (2 actually)but one is a map turtle & other is a red eared yellow belly slider, i am not sure if they can successfully breed or not?..i have placed egg in a soil/moss mix in the corner of my reptile vivarium...is there some way to check if egg is fertile or not?

Actually either male could be the father. How old is the egg? Is the egg in a container? What is the temperature in the corner of your viv?
