Thumbs up Out of hibernation?

I like to wait until there are a few days of sunny weather in early march to take my testudo graeca out of his hibernation box. Has anyone else who has a hibernating tortoise been considering which day is best?
As my tortoise likes to sit with the sun on his back I prefer to wait for the sun rather than put him straight under his lamp. After that he has to be kept indoors until well after Easter! ( amph )

hi there, you may have a few "sunny"days here and there but i don't think this will be any where near warm enough to kick start your tortoise immediately out of hibernation.your husbandry needs to be spot on at this early stage, then after a couple of weeks when torty is eating/basking if you get some nice sunny days then maybe put him out for a while.

it was lovely and sunny yesterday so yesterday wouold have been a good day, my adults went outside for a couple of hours as it was so warm and sunny. I got mine up early February (early i know) but they had been down for 3 months (13 weeks to be exact) and didnt want them down any longer, im hoping to move the start of their hibernation to end of Nov early Dec so that i can get them up early March which will be better for them as they have been cooped up inside and they are itching to get outside x

Fred is stirring in his box in the shed, probably from the few warm days we had last week, but with colder -weather due down here over the coming week I am very loath to get him up. He is mid fifties and fairly large and does not like being being anywhere but in the garden really.
