I have the ZooMed Deep Dome for my 120w MR. This holder takes up to 160w. However, if I was to change the bulb to a 160w...then I would also change the holder. IMO, I prefer to have a bit of "room" where the wattage of the bulb matches the max of the holder.

Yeah I know what you mean, rather be a bit under with the wattage than right on the max

Yup Anita,. Thats how I look at it too. I dont want either to melt, or have any chance of other risk - so if it means buying another holder and keeping the other for another time, then so be it.

I will definitely be considering these in the future (scroll down to post #15 and onwards) http://www.shelledwarriors.co.uk/for...t=40737&page=2

they are only £20 too

I'd like to know exactly what equipment is required for these please. Holders, ballast and whatever else and if they can work with timers and stuff

That link above is no longer valid, the thread has now been split and can be seen in Evolving Husbandry section under Arcadia linear lamps or something

Well I've ordered the Arcadia 100 watt basking bulb... I'll update on the results
The holder that I already have is fine for that size.
Thanks everyone

I'm using a regular spot bulb now on the tort table, good temps but no UV until the new bulb arrives. Is this safe for a few days?
I always add Nutrobal when feeding. Is there anything else I could be doing for Marley's well-being while he is without UV
Thanks

it will be okay Anita. Some people actually keep their torts without UV bulbs and just provide the D3 and vitamins but it's not advised

I'm onto my third Solarglo bulb in 4-5 months, I'm sick of them. The first two blew fairly quickly, this one the glass actually separated from the metal screw-in part. I know they're supposed to have a 6 month warranty but I've given up returning them, it ends up costing £5 just to post them back.
