horsefield sub species
i didnt know there were . can someone point me in the direction of thread showing pics of the different ones so i can try and see which mine are .

Just to make matters worse with Horsfield's they have gone and named 3 more subspecies, that may or may not turn out to be valid.
 T.horsfieldii horsfieldii--Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan T.h.bogdanovi--Kygystan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan T.h.kazachstanica--China(Xinjiang), Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan T.h.kuznetzovi--Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan T.h.rustamovi--Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan T.h.terbishi--Mongolia(Kobdo[introduced?]) Just seems not quite right that 4 subspecies are found in both Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. That doesn't seem quite possible. I haven't seen anything on the 3 newest subspecies at all yet.  Danny

Good luck with that. It's like the hermanns... They have characteristics that distinguish the different populations... if you know where they came from but the characteristics overlap... that is... they usually have distinguishing features but not always... I think they are different populations of the same species.
Now... Throw in genetics... I'll bet they are all the same animal. Teeth... Quote:
