Where is the discussion?
Hi All
Just wondering where the discussion is happening these days? I'm personally finding the advise of the various facebook pages to be pretty dubious.. Either questionable advice or people repeatedly asking for a week ID on a dandelion. Am i missing something? |

I'm not a big fan of Facebook. Most of those people aren't very friendly and don't take advice from someone they don't know. And it's impossible to close a facebook account. I just don't turn it on anymore.
It's quiet here, but if you want to discuss your tortoise, there are some pretty knowledgeable people that read here and give out advice.

There’s not too many of us on here anymore - many defected to Facebook!
However, as Yvonne says there are some great experienced owners here who pop up once a discussion is started. I’m not on social media either but I have heard there’s a lot of nasty comments and judgements made. I’d like to think we’re all supportive and friendly here.

They go to facebook because they dont keep tortoises correctly, which makes most happy. They want to keep tortoises their way, rather than the correct way for tortoises:0)

With facebook it is hard to see history of conversation and that then drives a lot of repeat basic questions. There is a lot of chat about people dressing tortoises up... its not easy to ignore that sort of stuff to find something interesting.

I think its a shame. Here you knew who knew their stuff plus, you could look things up. If you had a certain problem for instance. On Facebook there isn't that search plus you don't always know if to trust the validity of a person's experience / advise.
I would love to see more activity here (preferably pictures!) I spoke to Dan the man last night. Glad he's doing ok. |

How is Dan? Maybe he would like a gentle nudge to come back or is he too busy elsewhere to be such an active contributor to the forum?
