Little cat lost
Am a bit involved with cat rescue but sometimes little ones come your way unexpectedly like the little boy today.
Nick didn't go to work this morning as I was unwell (epilepsy ) He was in the post office when he overheard a conversation about a little cat that a lady had been feeding for 9 weeks. The cat was now being kicked by the neighbourhood kids and she was worried about him as the weather has turned really cold. Nick gave her our number and a little while later she called. I contacted a lady at a rescue centre who I know but as the lady said that the cat had been coughing she couldn't take it into the cattery as it could spread to all the other cats. It was arranged that the cat would be collected by the RSPCA (who I am already not a fan of). Got a call a few hours later from a very upset lady. The RSPCA turned up, told her that the cat was ok and that she must stop feeding him and that he will go away. They then stood over her while she destroyed the make shift shelter that she had made for him. As they left they picked up a dead hedgehog and took that with them I immediately went and collected him and he is now in the cat run in my garden. He is nice and warm and now seems quite settled. He is also suprisingly affectionate. He will be with me short term until he can go into the cattery or a new home can be found. I just can't believe the RSPCA The rescue I am in contact with is RSPCA Medway but all they have is the name. The cattery is run by one woman who does not get paid and gets no government funding whatsoever. She is struggling to cope. RSPCA as a whole are completely useless as far as I am concerned. I expect there are some that are good (like RSPCA Medway)but this has left me really angry today. |

very colourful langue but i completey agree with you and i ahve never really been a fan of the RSPCA , they have a lack of knowledge on animals and know almost know power. some times u just have to take power in ur own hands.

Did the RSPCA have the right to make the woman destroy the shelter? How upseting this must have been for her. Fraid I'm not gonna comment on the RSPCA
Good for you for taking him and hope he finds a home soon. Rach
