Urgent Leopard Advice

Lily will not eat or drink. she has had nothing since she arrived here Tuesday. all she does is sit under her T-Rex flood lamp.

I am getting really worried now. I know Leopards don't like change. she was with her previous owner for 11 years.

what can I do

Hi

I would suggest a nice warm bath.....then try her with some dandilion - maybe a little bit of cucumber too if you think she is dehydrated.

May i just add if she is a bit stressed ..When bathing her take the bath to her not her to the bath ..
the less shes messed about with the better i feel ..
this is just my own personal opinion and is no way a tort rule but just what i do myself when i get a new tortoise ..

would this be one of those occasions when "crtical care / food " might help ???????????????

although torts can go quite a long time without food as long as they are hydrated

I have tried bathes once in the sink other times in bowl in her temp home

tried dandelions on a pile of timothy hay all she does is walk over it

food before she came to me she had grass, fruit and veg

was hoping to get her on to proper diet

but getting to stage where I will be willing to try anything

am I worrying unnecessarily?

is this normal?

Honey was eating and before now only took her 2 or 3 days to settle in

Hi

Torts can go for days without eating.... try some cucumber to get some water into her.

I would avoid from bathing her in the sink... I bath mine in a cat litter tray (new of course) - I fill it with about an inch of warm water (just so it covers their tail) and its not hot but not cool either. I make sure the heat lamp is facing it too so as to keep the water warm.

Keep monitoring her... have you checked the temps in your table - do you have a UV strip?

All torts are differnt i know when i got my new torts 1 settled b4 the other

it all really depends on the tort itself i feel ..
keep up with the baths even tho u dont see her drink she will still absorb water threw bathing hope this helps ..
plz dont give in she will eat when shes hungry ...
as long as u keep the soaks up daily im sure she will eat in time even if it takes a few weeks ..

took your advice tried a chunk of cucumber

she sat and stared at it for a long time but as I am typing she is demolishing it

I no it has no nutritional value but at least she is taking on some fluids

Thats excellent news.

I know that people say to avoid cucumber but when water intake is needed (as in hot months) its good...(obviously in moderation)

Keep trying... you and she will get there.

after our little triumph last night, today Lily has spent all day sat under her lamp

should I disturb her and bath her or just leave her be

she has a water bowl in her enclosure

she has had nothing to eat today so far
