Out of hibernation
Two of our young Hermans came out of hibernation today, after 12 weeks. it was a bit late in the day 3 o'clock. I woke them up with a warm up under a lamp, then a good soak for nearly 20 mins, then back into there table for more warmth. First food offered after a couple of hours, Maggie the smaller one ate a little then basked. Alec the other has not eaten yet. I am very happy with there progress after hibernation, last year they had a full day to recover, hope Alec eats tommorrow. How long will some torts take to start eating after the sleep.

My Betty has just come out of hibrernation, she ate nothing the first day, she nibbled a leaf or two the second day and today, her third day she's had quite a good munch.
Each day I've bathed her at least twice and then put her under the lamp. |

Our two Hermans which woke up yesterday, are doing fine now, after 2 bath, basking and munching away on weeds and a little cucumber. I did miss them, but my other little one Barney kept me going, he lost a little wieght during back end of last year, so we did not hibernate. He is fine now. And George the Leopard Is always with us.
Congrats to all wide awakers. And good luck to all hibernators. Paul |
