Default Could this be shell rot?

Was giving my male hermann a soak in his bath when i noticed something odd about this shell

Towards the lower on his side is like a brown line, the colour can only be described as when wood gets wed Ive tried to take some photo's so see below. Only just noticed it.. any idea's what it could be?

Thanks all for any replies

Adam

To see properly we would need a closer shot of the damage.
I would say bathe in diluted betadine or the like to stop bacteria getting in. And seek a vet out.

I have tried to enlarge the picture to get a closer look, it certainly does not look right. I would suggest you get the tort to a vet tomorrow if you can. Just to be on the safe side.
Is it bleeding under the shell?
Has he been dropped/banged in anyway?
Or damaged by another tortoise?

Ill call my vet tommorow.

And with the damage, i cannot think of one instance where it could of damaged it self. Do you think it's more damage then shell rot then?

It does look like bleeding, but its hard to tell from picture.
It looks like damage of some sort, and that maybe infection has gotten in.
How long have you had the tortoise?
