did anyone notice the small print about the garuntee? you get 6mths but if the bulb goes say in 4 months you only get 2 months on the new one as thats all you would have had left on the first, (if that makes sense). I always assumed each bulb came with 6 months, their way you could get another bulb if the first went but would only have a very short period on the new one and then I assume it wouldn't be replaced if it blew. That doesn't seem right to me!

mmm...well that does sound a bit mean.
It might not be a wise move because the reliability of current lamps appears to be quite good and that approach to a 'guarantee' kind of implies the product might well fail and the makers don't want to absorb the costs. In practice the lamp most likely won't fail but with a guarantee like that you're almost expecting that it will!

[QUOTENo I don't think it's right either but that's the way all guarantees work. I took it up with Trading Standards once when a door kept cracking.[/QUOTE]
I didn't know that. Interesting point - so that's any lamp then presumably.

that's right, our sky box packed in once and that's what happened with the new one, it was only given a couple of months because the old one had gone about 10 months before packing in. I looked up about the guarantee and it's as you say

I have used these bulbs for about three years now (maybe more actually)
I did have a few issues with flickering in my first bulb, but Dazza kindly replaced it for me and I was given a brand new bulb and i've had no issue with it what so ever, i'm in need of a new one now but i'd defiantly get another Megaray

if guarantees didn't work like that you might only have to buy the item once because you could deliberately blow your bulb every 5 months

It was when they started messing about with them changing to 120w instead of 100w that the problems started.
I still have one of my first two solarglos but although it lights up, the UVB is no use |
