Talking found safe and well!

Dear all,
Than you all so much for your replies. After 3 days of ringing every petshop and vet in the area, and visiting shops to look for him, yesterday evening my daughter looked out of the window and said 'there's a tortoise in the garden' and there he was, sitting right next to where he disappeared from, eating a leaf and looking perfectly happy! We are all SO relieved! We suspect (police agree) that because we called the police and they knocked on doors and a big fuss was made, that someone got cold feet and returned him. Whatever happened I'm just so happy to have him back and he is fine. He has gone to stay with a friend while we give some serious thought to security and how to stop having another awful fright like this again. Thank you all for your lovely messages, it did help that people understood just how upset we were and there was lots of good advice too.

Chrissie x

So pleased to hear you got him back! Sorry though that you have had to let your friend have them, for security reasons. Hopefully, you will be able to get something sorted on that front.

Hi Chrissie
Sooo glad when I saw you'd got him back. I could only imagine the effect it would have had on me.

Yes some serious thought to security now. spikey shrubs etc around the perimiter of your garden & lights for at night. Its all very well planting spiky bushes but you have to wait for them to grow I know that along some of my fence I nailed on carpet gripper for in the mean time as a deterrrant. Perhaps you could get someone to come round to advise on ideas? Crime prevention officer?

Maybe you could also put a post up asking members what security measures they have in place & you could see what would work best for you.

Good luck

so glad he is back safe and sound
re Carpet gripper it is illegal to put this up to keep buglars out (in case a poor little SCUM BAG cuts his hands)
I have it on all my fence's and gates its so quick easy and cheap
so remember you only put it up to keep out fox's and Cats and not SCUM BAGS out
