Hi Burno, I don't know about the local paper, I'm considering the Guinness Book of Records

The Vet was surprised she'd had two wee nibbles the day after her surgery. Today, she had her feed, and some water through the feeding tube, then slept for most of it, apart from turning round to warm her bum under her light. I feel confident now with the tube, it was nerve wracking this morning.

She's just been sniffing around, so I went out in the garden, in the rain and cut a few wee nibbles of her favourite weeds, she scoffed the lot! I am so proud of her.

Evie, the nurse said that they've operated on old tortoises at 70 - 100 yrs, and alot of tortoises take up to 6 months to even start eating again. She said the tube might be in a couple of months, but I've every faith in my Cookie that it will be out before then.

I think a half decent pooh might be on the cards at the weekend.

It is really weird - I can inject patients all day but when my Leopard was on antibiotics I had to drive 50 miles every 3 days to the vet because I couldn't bare the thought of injecting her myself.

So it doesn't surprise me that you would felt nervous initially about her tube !!!

It is lovely to see her picture.

Evie exactly. I was nearly shaking, trying to give Cookie her first feed, though she of course did not flinch. I could cannulate, take bloods, watch people have injections into their eyes etc etc without a thought, but if I thought for a minute I had to do something that might hurt Cookie.......well.......

Rowan, thanks, it certainly looks like a happy ending. Cookie has been sniffing around, eating some Campanula, Aubretia, Rose Petals, Plantain and a some Little Gem lettuce as a wee treat, bless her. I phoned the Vet to check in, and let them know how she is doing, they are very pleased. She's bright eyed and putting on weight, so I don't have to phone for a week or two.

Oh, and we survived a 26hr power cut over the weekend

OMG! Cookie has been in the conservatory, with the door open, as it's lovely and sunny.

I've been checkin' on her regularly, and between checks I've just found a stonking great pooh! Yes! I knew she could do it. I'm really happy.....

That is great news Caroline - I must admit I was starting to worry as you hadn't posted for a while.

Well done Cookie x

I'm laughin', the things we get excited over

She even went to bed on her own tonight. She's right back into her wee routine. I feel really proud of her. She's so tough.
