I have 4 hermanns and I will also be hibernating this year. Some say hibernation isn't neccesary but I think that we should be trying to replicate the wild as much as possible so i dissagree with not hibernating.

Most people who do not hibernate their tortoises, dont because they are scared, which is understandable
but with help and the correct way, its scary but so much easier. I have been hibernating tortoises for the last 27yrs without any problems.

for hermanns tortoises hibernation plays an important part in a tortoises
life cycle - it is normal and i think nessary for these species, they normally hibernate from november to march in the wild i would reccomend looking on the tortoise house web site on hibernation and save the page to your computer for future reading dont worry hibernation i find is exciting |

i dunno - i just think its exciting because its such a change, watching them
wind down- i dont find it the least bit worrying i use fridge hibernation, i like this because it keeps the temps nice and steady i cant be the only person who finds hibernation exciting! |
