Hello it seems to me that you have 2 males. Also, they don't look like Testudo hermanni hermanni (their femoral scute seam is smaller than their pectoral one) but maybe I am wrong? Can you please confirm their sex and subspecies? thank you!

Hi, I think it would be worth asking Danny or HermanniChris to ID these lovely tortoises as they might not be Hermanni Hermanni. Some of the features we look for are unclear or not at all typical of that subspecies. I am not that good at picking the subspecies especially when they are not French but I think there is a bit of doubt. I would have expected the plastron to have continuous black bands and the light colour on the carapace is much paler than I would expect. There are a few other features that are not typical as well.
But they do look like super tortoises and for most people the exact subspecies isn't always an issue unless they want to breed.

The name of the cert just means hermanns, there are 3 sub species of hermanns and the certs don't state which sub just the species

Hi, I agree with Ziggy about your certs. They always say Testudo Hermanni for any hermann tortoise.
Sorry I'm no good at sexing them but there are loads of phoso on here of tortoises that have been sexed. You might want to search under the ID/sexing board.

Oz is definately a male and a Testudo hermanni hercegovinensis. Axle does look like a female and a T.h.boettgeri, but would need to see a picture of how long the tail is.
