Does anyone mind if I ask whether the picture of the male Hermanns tortoise is a normal one? Are they meant to have the holes in the underside of the shell? I was given a tortoise recently (now my pride and joy) and he has a tiny, shallow hole on the left of his underside. Sorry to be a pain, but I'm not sure who else to ask as the only reptilian pet shop round here is useless. Thanks for your time.

Hi Linda,
I am not a herman keeper, but I seem to recall that this has cropped up before, and was perfectly normal, although it doesnt look like it. Ade
