New Tort Tables
so i am planning new enclosures for my lot, 5ft by 2ft tables.
been going round and round on lighting I was going to use arcadia combi bulb for basking area, but i dont think that is going to light the whole table, so was going to use clip on light holder with normal LED bulb in at the opposite end to improve the light levels in the table. or would i be best going separate basking and UV lights, and if so which ones? any help is much appreciated

Wigwam man on here showed his cold frames a while back & he was using them & showing how. Obviously you would then need separate UV. I believe T5 are the best |

Hi there
I agree about one combined lamp on its own not providing a great light level but I believe quite a lot of keepers would say this is OK. LED lamps are very good for raising the light level and I use them including the Arcadia Jungle Dawn one which is designed for this purpose and not expensive. Personally I prefer separate uvb and heat sources but others say the combined lamps work best for them. The outdoor halogen lamps are now cheap to buy and provide a wide footprint. They are dimmable and I don't think they should be used as a tortoise heat source without a thermostat. I noticed in your signature that you've got several species and its only the Mediterranean types that I can comment on. For species that require a lot of uv, the T5 uv+desert is the tube to go for if you decide to go that way. These tubes last a long time and genuinely produce a lot of uv which other tubes don't.
