Default My Hermanns greehouse

Although I have basking lamps set up I rarely use them unless we have some diabolical weather at the start of the season. These lamps are set up on chains so I can lower them to the basking height, the rest of the time they are hung right up high so I can hose down the greenhouse during the summer to boost humidity and to encourage nesting. the Adult Hermans have access to the top end of the greenhouse from their outside area and the Juveniles the slightly smaller area closer to the camera. the stageing is where most of them sleep. Often temperatures in the greenhouse can reach 45 to 55c depending on if the main door is open or not, yet rather than leave they prefer to dig down under the stageing which I try to keep damp by regularly soaking the leaf litter and soil under there. The greenhouse is empty at the moment because I had to lock them out while I had a dig over and topped up the leaf litter. Spot the speedy Juvenile I have only just reopenned the hatches as well.

Really interesting to see, particularly the chains.

More ideas!

Thank you.
