ohhhh... Elaphe spiloides(i refuse to change). They are found near where I live. I've found a few in Mississippi.

Good luck with those tortoises. They must be a challenge in the UK but you're ahead of the game considering they do well with a cool period.

I had a tort who cut his hind leg on the base of his shell. I got an emery board and just took off the sharpe edge. I then used what I use on myself for broken & sore skin TEATREE CREAM and it worked a treat, just a couple of days and the cut was completely healed.
Just thought I would mention it

Thanks for the comments. I will put a few more photos on later. Borrowed a dremmel from a neighbour with a rotating emery board. The points disappeared in seconds. No sign of bleeding and now nice and round. Took the same (smaller) point off the other one to make sure that I don't have a repeat performance with the other animal.

Fantastic. Once you've done it you can see how easy it is done.

Been so wet that my glasshouse has been flooded most of the summer. They have churned the mud into a soup and spend lots of time submerged in it. The dremmel worked great.

Not sure of their mass anymore as they have gone being my scales. Last summer they were both around 6kg.

A bit of a shock seeing the photos. Great pictures though.

They look as if they've just come back from Glastonbury!
