Default Hi everybody 😃

Hi everyone just wanted to introduce myself and my new shelled best friend. Not sure if it's a Frances or a Francis?! When I read how to, I will try to upload some pictures and see if any of you can help me! I'm new to keeping torts so hopefully you can all help me keep my little hermann in tip top condition. He/she is 12 years old has previously been kept in a propagator for plants on a substrate of wood shavings. I took him/her to the vets for an MOT and everything appears ok although it is very small for its age. It's never had any sort of lighting ever and didn't go outside much. I fully intend on giving little Francis the very best I possibly can.
The previous owners simply got bored I think!

Hi, I think you need to have made over 5 posts to be able to post pictures. First 5 posts also need approval. Pics are hosted on sites like Photobucket, Smugmug, Flickr etc and the link posted in a post here

Hi and welcome to the forum!
Once you can post photos we can have a look and advise whether you have a Francis or Frances.

Hi and welcome to the forum! Your poor tort doesn't sound as though it has had the best start in life but you have come to the right place for good advice.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Francis is a hermann according to his (?) paperwork. There are so many websites offering info about keeping tortoises but I have found some of them to be very conflicting! Some website forums seem like they can get a little tense so I was drawn to this one as it appears to be very friendly! 😊
I appreciate any advice you may in the future give me and look forward to getting to know you and your torts!

Welcome, cant wait to see francis if you get a chance! Hermanns are so colourful and warm tortoises ! there is a book naturalistic keeping and breeding of hermanns tortoises - wolfgang wegehaupt. don't worry if don't intend to breed it is very interesting even just for the pickys too !
