Natural habitat for Kinosternon Baurii
This year I took a few photos of where Three Striped live in Florida. I know they are in this pond because last year I found one beautiful female 20 metres away from that spot. There is a large river (Braden River) close by, and there live Cooters and Alligators, from the ones I was watching for sure.
And this quite creek looks like a perfect heaven for more turtles colony. I did no went any closer simply because I dont have any gear to venture away from the path. Not fancy to go barefooted in tank top and short sorts lol. The opening on the top right you see a creek covered with duckweed and water lettuce How the forest floor looks like where they walk and dig The sandy soil that they dig nests in, all Florida has such sand under thin top cover. The slope into the small creek where they go out at night to lay eggs, dark clean quiet water. Very deceiving. I did not went to splash there, gators watching you! More of the same... This creek is right behind That day it was only 29C (85F) and cloudy. Hope you like.

And as you've mentioned David Carroll on the forum today, some of his words of wisdom...
"We live on Earth without walking it. What do we touch with our hands? So many human eyes and ears see only the human-constructed landscape, hear only human sounds. Wild hills and swamps are looked at casually, if at all, viewed as little more than a backdrop for human dramas. So many voices, so many languages, beyond human tongues, are never listened to. We are in fact overwhelmingly out of our senses. Our eyes are open for such a brief time, our appearance on Earth between two unfathomable sleeps. Are we to sleepwalk through it?" Keep looking at swamps. |
