Welcome to the forum Stu, stunning tortoise...did you get the responses you needed if you thought what you knew was wrong?
Looks much older than 40 to me , think a boy too but not sure as can't see length of tail too well but seems like a concave there, someone will know for sure and TGG, Lots to be read here too so enjoy ! CB

Thanks for the reply.
I've got more of a background in aquatics than reptiles, and the knowledge base there has increased/changed a lot in the internet era. Flash is a garden tort that forages a lot (lots of clover & dandelions in my lawn),and has always hibernated in a box in the shed.Some of the additional greens/green beans he's been supplemented with seems to go against current thinking. The most pressing issue which led me to this great forum is similar to this thread http://www.shelledwarriors.co.uk/for...ad.php?t=73689 I'll start another thread rather than clutter theirs. Overwintering is something a know little about,or are prepared for. |

Flash looks as though he is already sleeping? 40, what a lovely age.
Have you received the advice you were looking for on 'overwintering'. My 2 have been hibernating since November, but if you need some advice on this please post. I would not be the best person to advise as I have no experience of a late hibernation, especially with these warm temperatures'. However, there are many people on here who can advise. Jan |
