Thank you all, Gertrude had been a bit quiet for a couple of days so I thought I would add a spot lamp above the nest mound, I checked again about 1 1/2 hours later and she had dug a big hole already! I thought they were meant to pace and get aggitated when due to lay but she was the opposite, afterwards though she seemed a bit pushy with the others Anyway I am so excited, I hope I get hatchlings this year

Oh well done Gurtrude! I have a Gurtrude who is the opposite all day yesterday & today she has been agitated, barging into inanimate objects so I think laying is imminent. Hope they are fertile Alison.

Well it is more of a slope of earth in the corner of the greenhouse, we put some wood behind to add height so actually it is much deeper than they need it, then I put some of that wavy green lawn edging stuff round the bottom so that the other torts dont keep wandering on it, so it is more effort than normal to climb over that bit to access the laying site, the spot light must have just got it to the right heat today!
