Default Not sure if this is too much

Hi everyone. Sorry to be a pain.

I weighed my torts this morning and i'm not sure if the gain is too much too soon

They are 6 years old and underweight

Today Brocolli weighs 146g last week it was 126g, Cauliflower 135g last week 117g, Peas 175g last week 144g, Carrotts 201g last week 157g.

They get a mix of weeds/plants 4 days a week, shop bought salad once a week and komodo pelletts once a week. ( i find they eat weeds and plants better after they have had some pelletts ) I also give a no food day once a week.

Advice very much needed and thanks for reading

Hi Fi

If they are underweight then I wouldn't worry about their weight increasing too quickly. A healthy weight for a tort is in relation to it's SCL (straight carapace length) so if it is underweight for it's size then it needs to put on some bodyfat/build up it's muscle etc.

I wouldn't restrict their food, and I'd feed everyday until their weights are up

Just Measured the scl if it helps

Cauliflower is 3.5inch
Peas is 4inch
carrotts is 4inch
brocollie is 3.5inch

mainly feed grape vine leaves and rose petals as they are in abundance in my garden plus any safe weeds i can find. Just as a temp till my weeds grow better.

Thanks bindi you have been a star x

I agree with Bindi That weight gain is perfectly fine. I saw you mention in another thread you were thinking of hibernating or wanted to hibernate. I looked up what they should be weighing for their size and they are still quite a bit under-weight. I wouldn't even think about hibernating this year. Just concentrate on getting their weights up to where they should be, which is 260g for Carrott and Peas and 180g for Brocolli and Cauliflower.
