Plant ID
2 to be ID'd please. The first one is niggling at me as I'm sure I know it. Second one I can only think of something like Antirrhinum, but I'm not certain.
Thank you

I thought the first one was lambs lettuce (I have sown it in this area before) and it’s been there through the winter and only started growing up and producing buds recently, which made me question it. I googled and discovered it will flower, so I’m hoping that’s what it is as I have been feeding it.
Any other ideas or confirmation it is Lamb’s Lettuce?

It could be Lynn but I checked it against The Tortoise Table and other websites and the leaves seem more pointed in Valerian whereas these are rounded.
I get all sorts popping up in the garden each year, but this one looked just like lambs lettuce until it started to grow taller and get buds. I might have to wait until flowers emerge and see what colour they are and try to ID it. Thanks for responding.

Yup - first one is lambs lettuce. Little white flowers have appeared and fit all photos, so that’s good.
Anyone have any ideas on the second? Very quiet on here...all busy making the most of the sun?

The second one looks like a willowherb to me. There are I think 13 different types of willowherb. There appears to be quite a few types of lamb's lettuce, that one looks like the pictures that I've seen of wild lamb's lettuce

Thanks Alan. I've never seen willowherb get quite so bushy but there's lots of willowherb growing around it so that makes sense.

The second plant has grown taller and looks to have some flower buds forming. I’m sceptical it’s a willow herb. Any one recognise it? I originally thought it an Antirrhinum, so I’m thinking back along those lines again.

afternoon Emma , lambs is quite furry i thought and strong thick stem but there are so many different types. yes antirrhinum - bunny ears? I have hundreds of them because the seeds drop and grow really easily and can be transferred really easily also. quite long roots sometimes but easy to pick out and replant they then grown woody stems which you can cut back and growth starts again next year - they are lovely. weeds galore this year which is nice and the Chicory is A MAZ ZING !! would feed a feast of thousands or in my case just 10 piggy horsfield girlies !

Hi Clare. Yes the little clusters of white flowers are typical lambs lettuce and the torts have eaten it quite happily.
So you are familiar with antirrhinum then? I’ve never had it before, but it says it’s a safe feed, so good to know it is easy to let it grow, drop its seeds and more food for my hungry bunch! The weeds have grown huge this year haven’t they? I’m really pleased with everything in the weed patch, plus have loads of lavatera and mimulus everywhere. And now, finally, the sun is out and we’re in for a dry spell so the torties can enjoy themselves. Hope all yours are well, Clare. x
