Lighting and heating - very confused!
Hi guys,
I made an introductory post in the general forum but I'm still rather confused about lighting. I seem to be finding lots of contradictory information such as I need a UV lamp but then some are saying I don't. What is the best lighting/heating for my torties? (Please add links). Is this efficient enough: http://www.surreypetsupplies.co.uk/a...lamp-160w.html Or do I need two separate lamps? Also, has anyone got any links on suitable thermometers they use? |

That bulb is fine, that is what I use. It is uv/heat combined so yoi don't need seperate bulbs.
The therometer I use is this one http://www.surreypetsupplies.co.uk/z...ter-th-24.html

lighting is personal preference hun I prefer separates but many prefer the combined bulbs..... just keep in mind that it needs to light the whole table and wake ur torts in the morning. my torts prefer to sleep in cool end which was not getting a lot of light with a combined bulb so I switched to separates.......
That Bulb you have a link for is fine x I use these.... http://www.reptiles.swelluk.com/rept...0-0-13266.html THE 30 watt one I use that with this http://www.reptiles.swelluk.com/rept...p67--8902.html THE 25-30 WATT ONE to go with bulb (you must have the correct wattage one) then for basking heat I use these: http://www.reptiles.swelluk.com/rept...ght-27543.html THE MEDIUM one as sometimes when its snowing and colder I change for a 100watt bulb and the medium one takes upto 150watt..... WITH a normal household bulb 60watt or 100watt (remember to get screw in bulb for the screw in lamp holder or the bayonet bulb for the bayonet lamp holder) Hope this helps...... |
