What kind of heat bulb were you using? If it was a heat+UV mercury vapour bulb then they can't be used with a thermostat.

The most common problems for bulbs not working are..
1) that they are not getting a good enough connection in the bulb holder, if the bulb is not making good contact with the copper bit in the holder the electricity jumps the gap between contact and bulb making it unstable and liable to blow. Prising the copper contact up a little can fix this but make sure it's UNPLUGGED FIRST BEFORE DOING THIS.

2) that the bulb is too powerful for the rating on the holder, e.g. a 100w bulb in a 60w rated lamp

Also if it's a combined heat/uv bulb they should point straight down vertically, rather than at an angle. (Don't know if this applies to all bulbs?)

We have sorted it now, well last night, fuse had gone in the thermostat..not the fuse in the plug, the internal one.
We was up and running fine last night before we went too bed
