Default No garden??

I am going to be moving out, I am the proud mummy of two Herman torts and will not have a garden when I move, can anyone advise me if it would be too bad for the torts to keep them inside all the time. It would probably be for around about a year. Obv want the best for them so wanted to get general opinions of this....

Um.....if Im honest. Not so sure thats a good thing...

Suggestions...

If where you move to...even if you can get to know a neighbour,or if its near friends or relatives. Perhaps a temporary "station/set up" can be sorted (maybe at your expense?). By this I mean a purpose built garden run. So that perhaps when the weather gets nice, if a trusted neighbour or friend/relative is in, the torts can still get outside. Its just an idea. What do you think??

I dont have an outdoor enclosure myself. I do the best I can. I get Lily outside in my garden which is really lovely in the summer, (when I am HOME) and if/when the weather permits.

However...we are talking about no garden at all here, see what others say. I regret to say that it might not be ideal for the torts if you cant find someone or someway of getting them some time outside, if Im being honest with you. Mean no disrespect here.... and I really hope a good solution can be found. Good Luck xx

I wouldn't worry about transporting them too much...in the summer months I quite regularly take kreacher to my grandmas house and we sit in the garden with her...

All my family love to have kreacher visiting...she's the only pet (other then the kids hehe) that can come to visit people...and she gets spoilt rotten by my gran picking her weeds lol

I took Pedro to visit my nan and grampy a couple of times in the summer. She didn't seem at all bothered about it. Stomped all round their garden eating their pansies. My grandparents had tortoises when they were young (they are 90-odd now), and they are amazed at all the lights and heat and stuff that are provided for them now!

I suppose it depends on the temperament of your tortoise - whether they mind being moved about or not. I hope you find a happy solution.

I used to take mine when we went away in the caravan for a weekend. I had a large cage & would put them outside in the sunshine during the day (whilst we were there) & took a UV lamp for when raining & they were fine.

I could have left them at home & got someone to check on them but prefferred to care for them myself. They are bigger now + have better enclosures & my son is old enough to stay at home, so he cares for them (& gets paid)

But I never had any ill effects from travelling with them.
