My friend has her rabbits and guinea pigs in a lovely warm heated shed and every winter they have mice lodgers. She doesn't mind and all it seems to do is share the warmth and endless food supply. Not sure how it'd work with torts tho but it seems to for rabbits and pigs x

would have thought it would be okay he might loose his tail if they think its a worm cannot see a problem with a mouse but a rat would be a different matter.

I would try and remove it, if it were in my shed, mouse leads to mice and more mice.

Yes,they multiply quickly as do their deposits!! They also nibble things - wires etc. I'd be inclined to move it elsewhere too. You'd need to relocate some way away as they have a habit of finding their way back!

aaaaahhhhhhh you couldn't turn the poor little thing out into the cold, many of them probably die in this sort of weather, it might have all its winter food store in the shed and would never be able to find enough outside. Rats are different I don't like them, we had a yellow necked mouse where we used to live and I would watch her come out and take seeds etc from the bird table, she had babies at one point and they were so sweet and tiny. I'd at least wait untill the weather gets a bit better unless you have another shed you can move it to.

I think catching it could be a problem !! The enclosure has high sides with a lid, and I don't want to kill it I could put in a pet friendly trap but the chances of it sitting undisurbed with 4 large torts is small lol. I may leave it for a while and if more come in or babies start arriving then I will have to do something. I agree with you Ann putting it out in the cold is not an option.

Aww bless you Bev, I would feel the same. These poor little animals really suffer in this awful weather, me and the kids bought some extra bread the other day to feed the birds
