I'm sure the time will come when you get your opportunity to incubate some eggs you know have a good chance of being fertile. It may be a long while off at the moment, but it's always nice to have some future plans and my goodness, the older we get, the more quickly the years seem to pass.

Have you any plans for who will have your torts when you're not able to care for them? If there's 10 to be shared between grandchildren or nieces/nephews, etc., maybe a couple more won't make much difference.

I know where you're coming from though. It is a predicament.

Aww Bev, feeling tort broody is a bit like being baby broody as to us our torts are our babies. If you've got the room for a few more, is there any particular reason you have chosen not to let Spart meet Roxy?
You could breed just once. The main risk I suppose is in whether the hatchlings turn out female or not, as they're so much easier to accommodate.
Or....you could buy an egg from a breeder and incubate yourself? I know poultry keepers do this sometimes. I can think of one breeder who might let you do this if you ask very nicely.

I think I know who you mean too lol, be nice to have my own females fertile eggs though Emma, I am feeling very broody.

And the reaso I'm not breeding my horsfields is that there are so many unwanted horsfields on sites such as preloved, especially males, I had to rehome two males myself! if we could guarantee females during incubation then I would breed them.

Roxy may lay another clutch yet, and those might turn out fertile, so I'm keeping close watch.......but yes I am so broody x
