Hello I currently have a large rabbit cage as an enclosure measuring 160cm length, 80.5cm width and 58cm height. I am looking to buy another rabbit cage exactly the same size to double his space.
The cage will be rectangle in shape rather than a square hence the idea of an extra UVB tube light leaving the other end cool and dark. My question is should I buy an Arcadia T5 UVB Kit to accompany his current Arcadia D3 UV 160w Basking Lamp? Last edited by cracker467; 08-03-2018 at 07:40 PM. |

Hi there. The T5 is great and you won't need another uv source if it's set up right. I suggest get the T5 kit and replace the combi lamp with a halogen of suitable wattage. Something like an 80 watt par 38 with E27 fitting. I buy batches of 6 Crompton lamps which work out about 5 quid each. Try to get the wide angle beam as the really narrow angle ones might only heat up part of your tortoise. Let us know how you get on!

Just to add that if you want a gradient of uv, hang your tube at an angle. If it was me, I would also have some plain white light without heat using an led.

Thank you for the reply. I was going to buy this kit as it has everything I need.
https://www.reptilecentre.com/arcadi..._p28154256.htm I'll grab an Arcadia Halogen Basking Spot 100W ES as well then. https://www.bluelizardreptiles.co.uk...SABEgLgXPD_BwE Last edited by cracker467; 11-03-2018 at 01:59 AM. |

Hi there Cracker - That's a good deal on the T5 and the tube will give off uv for much longer than a combined lamp. Looks to me like a good plan.

Cheap halogen heat lamps
Just to add to the post, Homebase are selling 120W PAR 38 halogen spot lights for £2. Have recently bought another 3 to add to the 3 I bought late last summer. Believe they are also selling the 80W halogen spots for the same price.
Hope this might help someone.

Yeah that's what I thought, that's why I've ended up with 6 "spares" for my 2 lamp set up
