Oh no I'm really sorry to hear that, that must be really upsetting, I have no idea how they would set a tortoise leg bone, It won't be easy with their hard shell, hopefully some experts or someone who has experienced this will be able to help x

Aww poor thing it does look awkward what with the shell in the way, did she get hooked up in something? Hope she can be fixed without too much difficulty.

Just had a quick look in my Andy Highfield book and all I can see is "Broken limbs usually respond to immobilisation so maybe it wont be as bad as you think?

If it comes to the worst outcome of amputation she will be fine i have an adult female horsfield with three legs and she is fine not a lot she cant do

Yes you would immobilize the leg inside the shell as in tape it so she couldn't move it out or even around in the shell. Might have to be tried a few times as they will need to X-ray after its done to make sure the ends of the bones are close enough together.

Do you mean push the leg inside the shell then tape over it so she cant move it Dan? x
