Default Moving Abroad

Hello All,

I am moving abroad (Belgium) in about 6 weeks, for three years. Does anybody know if there is any problems taking my two Spur Thighs with me?

I know you need passports for cats dogs or ferrets, but can't find any information on Tortoises.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards

Its best to phone DEFRA, they should be able to tell you what you need. Article 10 certs for sure.

Default Update.

Hello,
Just as an update, I phoned DEFRA, who weren't too sure of the answer, so told me to phone CITES. They confirmed that there is free movement within the EU, so no paperwork of any kind is required.

Have you looked into Belgium's rules and regulations?

I spoke with a lady at CITES and they said free movement within EU. I asked her if I should contact France and Belgium as well, and she said 'Only if you don't believe me, and if you don't beleive me, are you going to believe what they tell you?'

I think I may have upset her, lol.

I'm quite happy there will be no problems now!! I may have French speaking tortoises by the time I return!!

I know because France have indigenous species, they are particular on what comes into France.
As we all know, what is said is not always what is done.
It might be good to find a French tortoise site and ask on a forum.
