What pet?
It's my daughters 19th birthday soon and she doesn't know what she wants except a kitten. I wont let her have one because we have birds. I am trying to find her something cute and furry but what? We have guinea pigs, a dog, she doesn't want a bird or a tortoise, we have a bearded dragon. Can anyone recommend something that's not a rat, mouse, hamster, gerbil, chincilla or degu. She suggested a rabbit but wants to keep it inside except in summer when it would have a run in the garden but I know they need lots of space and her bedroom is not ideal.

I like rats but could never keep them as pets as I can't handle them, hate the way their tails wrap rung your wrist etc...

My friend has four rats in a gorgeous cage with hammocks and all sorts but I wouldn't really want to hold one either....

Nice idea but just had a look and they need so much space, she'd have to move out of her room for them
Same as Emma, not a snake lover.

I have been looking a hedgehogs, not the most cuddly animal but really cute.
I'd love a capybara, they look like giant guinea pigs. You can buy meerkats now. That is just so sad, they need company of their own kind and lots of them. I bet most are kept alone in tiny cages.

We have had so many rats I've lost count. They are wonderful pets and so clever. The only downside is they only live about 3 years and it's heart breaking when they die, it's like losing a dog, they are so loving.
