Default Ten things your pet would want you to remember

Courtneys (EB) thread, "How Could You" really got to me this morning.
Many years ago I saw this in a paper and it got to me too, especially no. 10. I cut it out and always have it in my purse.
Courtney reminded me of it today, so I would like to share.
Written with dogs in mind.

1. My life will last 10-15 years. Any separation from you will be painful.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.
3. Place your trust in me - its crucial for my well being.
4. Don't be angry with me for long. You have friends, work and entertainment. I only have you.
5. Talk to me. If I don't understand your words I will still know your voice.
6. Be aware that however you treat me I'll never forget it.
7. Before you hit me, remember that I have teeth but I choose not to bite you.
8. Before you scold me for being lazy, ask yourself if there's not something wrong - if I'm sick or getting old and weak.
9. Take care of me when I get old. It will happen to you too.
10. Come with me on my last journey. Never say "I can't bear to watch it." Everything is easier for me if you are there.

Well that last one has made me well up. I know I was there for both my dogs' last journeys, the least I could do.

I'm afraid I haven't read Courtneys yet, I don't know if I can...sorry EB x

A lovely lovely piece Glynis, one i'm sure many will relate to xx

Such true words, shame not everyone lives by them.

Blummin' 'eck!!! You've really done it now - I can't stop blubbin!! My poor doggies wonder what on earth's going on as they're suddenly getting hugged to death!! Think I'm gunna copy this down and put it in my purse too so I can remind myself of it from time to time! Thanks for sharing!

Its good to be reminded of how much your dog means to you, today my Babs has been really more spoiled than usual.
I too have been with 3 dogs on there final journey, I just could not have lived with myself if I had not have been there, as they were always there for me

this has made me really cry. I so agree with no 10, the least you can do for your faithful friend. I couldn't not be there, but hope I won't for a long long time

Ohh! I cried at them all, especially 10 and 4! Sometimes I get angry with my Harvey because I am doing my homework and he stands on my book, but I instantly run and hug him and say "Aww, I'm sorry puppy!"
