Happy new year everyone, I've just got back from a lovely weekend away, it was my nephews wedding on New Year's Eve , so we finished off the wedding with a fantastic New Year's Eve party. Best I've ever been to, didn't get to bed until 2am. And had a lovely new year day, with the newly weds, looking at the video and photos of the wedding and party, almost another party ! Phew ...... Very tired now 😴

What started as a good year (2016) turned into the worst year ever around month 10 and I've had a few bad years in my time.
New Year's Eve was okay when I was younger but now I'm just totally sickened by the whole Christmas circus which starts in September these days that I just want it all to be past ASAP. |

Alan I hope 2017 is a better year.
Jonathan - I spent my first wedding anniversary in Maastricht. Wonderful lunch in a French style restaurant just off the square, also at this time of year too. Cold and damp. I was treated to chablis and that went down a treat. Suze - enjoyed reading about your happy time. I'm not a big fan of new years eve, it makes me sad that another year has gone. Much better to get and early night. However, I love new years day as I go round the garden looking for signs of spring, buds are coming and the bulbs are popping up. My husband thinks I'm mad!

I am with you Jan, love New Years day - always go for a walk (by the sea if can wind in your hair )and have a roast dinner. Its sad the commercialism of Christmas and New Year but I sort of treat all the days similar just with a bit of sparkle and fairy lights that way its normal. I mean who ever has a massive roast dinner in the middle of the day or at 3pm and sleeps all afternoon most weeks? Weirdness.
It is nice hearing what people did though. I think 2016 was one of the worst years I can recall. Many passed away and if you compare it to 2015 hardly any well known people did. this year has a lucky 7 in it ! CB

2015 ended on a very low note for me, but 2016 was a fresh start all be it a difficult one, we had to take baby steps here. We are not there yet, but we are not where we were a year ago. And through it all I try to always see positives, because progress is progress, how ever small. I wish you all a better year than last year, and try to stay positive.

Suze - my husband is always quoting:
Man goes long way with little steps. Not sure where women feature! Yes, lets hope for a good 2017 for us all and our torts (and Rocco, dogs, rabbits, chickens and all the other animals that have been shared).
