totally random question!
you know when u wake up singing a song in ur head and u wonder where the hell it came from cos u havent heard it for ages.... well i woke up this morning singing a little poem from a book from when i was little. i can only remember the first 2 verses so i searched for it on the internet and i cant find it anywhere, so i thought i wud ask on here and on facebook to see if anyone knows the poem.
'Mr Samuel Flowerbutts is the smallest man i know, but whatevers in his garden seems to grow and grow and grow. His onions are like footballs and his marrows are a size and his hollyhocks go reaching up as if to reach the skies.' If anyone remembers this poem and/or what book it was from let me know please! |

I do believe this was part of a children's programme in the u.k. called playschool.
I certainly had this poem in a playschool book that I bought for my daughter. It was a favourite. I would like to find the whole poem again. |

Seriously !? This was funny ! It's not that I have that sort of mind, indeed not , after all I watch James Corbin, but onions and marrows. Someone is having a joke, bit like Captain Pugwash. I would stick with the clangers. CB

Tread carefully CB! It's an urban myth that captain pugwash had sexual innuendos in it. The creator John Ryan successfully sued newspapers that made these allegations. Some of the supposed characters with the suggestive names were not in the series at all but the journalists didnt bother to actually watch any of the programmes. They just repeated what they heard in the pub. Rub a dub dub.

The clangers were always my favourite, but I also loved bag puss, the herbs, trumpton, the wooden tops. This all goes to show how old I am 😁

I loved Trumpton. The kids recoiled in horror once when I showed them what was on TV in my day. Quote:
Cheeky!! It's actually Suze's door number. If it were her age it'd say 75 (.....and that would put her younger than me. ) All these amazing looking women in their 50's on this forum!! Spoiled for choice you are, G.
