Hi Nikki,

Well done for giving it up it is the hardest thing I ever did.

The only think I can suggest is when you feel a bit mad act it (jump around like a looney basically!!)

And just keep in your mind why you are doing for example, you want to live, hmmmm lowering the risk of cancer, skin getting more radiant, not being addicted to something, lung disease, heart failure you know the general, whiter teeth, lowering the risk of gum disease the list goes on and on lol

O and I gave up because one my partner has asthma and because I want to be a donor.

I buy my self something and say well done me

Good luck

xxx

Who is helping you quit - chemist, GP, NHS stop smoking service?

http://smokefree.nhs.uk/ways-to-quit...oking-service/

What choices did they offer you? Can you go back and ask for an alternative or more support? Good luck.

I dont think anything helps, you have to want to do it

I failed several times and have now been smokeless (is that the right word?? lol) for 4 years

I am very proud of myself and will never go back to it.

Strangely though I can't drink tea anymore it taste fowl lol

Thanks Wendy (it is Wendy right?)

FANTASTIC You have to dig deep and then even deeper. Don't think any further than the next hour without the evil weed. Sounds daft but I found it easier with a packet of ciggies in my pocket all the time. That way the craving seemed to be easier because I knew I had some if I was beyond help.
If you do need support just post on here
regards
Sue

Well Done & Good Luck!

My mum had smoked for over 28 years. She gave up in December 2007 (No Patches or anything) and hasn't smoked since.

Tell you what though i can really smell the fag smoke on people now my mums gave up.When i go out now i can smell who smokes and who doesn't lol

Oh and think of all that money you'll save (Use a calculator) Turns out my mum is now saving over £1000 a year

Yeah...but nobody puts the extra away, really REALLY..do they??
Unfortunately my quitting failed quite some time ago...I do remember the savings bit though. But no way did I put it away. I still spent it..just on something else.
...like sweets.
Then I had to find a trick to give that up.
And ice pops...I had different colours on my tongue every day, blue, green, orange,.
I started getting addicted to Ice pops....

Then I went back to smoking...lol. Couldnt take it no more....lol

Nik, that is just me mind you. I was weak then and it was years ago. So you GO for it!!
(Ice Pops probably £1.00 in local supermarkets..)

I used patches to stop, they don't work miracles but they did help. the bottom line is if you really want to stop you will anyway. in my case I found that the biggest thing is to change your habits like don't go to pubs for a few months
