I totally agree that the smaller the area is the more dilegent the keeper has to be.

I can only give my Aldabras 1/2 acre and that they have to share with my Redfoots and Leopards.

One other point... what you are able to provide and what will meet their needs are 2 totally different things.

Also... Iberas are a little bit bigger than Hermanns.
I see i'm learning fast

And you know what size suit's there needs how ?????, in the wild tortoise's can cover a few acre's in a day, Male's during mating season can cover a large area looking for females , also animal's that have to forage for food are far more healthy than animal's kept in small area's for obvious reason's exercise being one of them , stimulation being another , there are many more reason's which are obvious for there well being .
p.s. diligent only has one E in it

Hmm, I always think it's unwise to point out a spelling or grammatical error in someone's post .. especially if you have thirteen in your own post

I have 3 at the min, one 7yrs (M), one 8yrs (F) and one 4yrs (F) and in the future i want to add another young female

So i am wondering what is an adequate space for 4 adult hermans? (1 male, 3 females) What length, depth and what height? Im guesing it needs to have a good height for females to have enought substrate to lay in.

Thanks

What this all boils down to is there is no set size, you already have the tortoises so just provide the biggest enclosure that you can fit in, add the quality of life ideas as mentioned in Stells post and I am sure they will be Ok.

Does there really need to be an argument over a simple question? The idea isto advice the questioner and not argue amongst yourselves. I havent got acres of garden and so make the best use of the space i have as long as the tortoises have space and stimulation and are healthy. We can never mimick exactly how they live in the wild because at the end of the day we all confine them within an area no matter how big a space we have. It would make me happier living in a bigger house with a swimming pool and eat the best food and not have to go to work but i dont and so have adapted to what i have and animals adapt to what they have the same as in a zoo.

Sorry dont usually get involved in arguments.......so please dont shoot me lol x

Thats excellent, so proof that your enclosures are more than adequate to meet their needs lol x
