Default im confused again.

Hi all, you probably remember me asking about this in the past but i cant for the love of it, find the post or thread explaining about it. Im wanting to work out the jackson ratio. (weight divided by length x length x length)
so weight is 64g and length is 7cm and this equals 448 so i dont understand how this can be any of these below. Im totally confused!!!!

Jackson ratio of
  • less than 0.16: An underweight tortoise needing special care.
  • of 0.17: Light for hibernation, unless an active male, or an animal with unusually flared scutes.
  • of 0.19: Normal, and safe to hibernate
  • of 0.21: A very good weight, ideal condition.
  • of above 0.23: Possibly too heavy, check for puffiness (water retention)

It's fairly easy you divide the 64 by 448 and you get 0.14. This is much to low to hibernate and your going to need to keep that one up this winter and feed well.

Erm is this the BCG calculation?

It's weight (Grams) divided by length times length times length so your calculation is wrong, 7x7x7 is 343 so

64/343 = 0.186 so nearing the "safe to hibernate" mark.

Are you sure the tortoise is dead on 7 centimetres, it should be calculated to the decimal point 7.1, 7.2 etc
