Darwin's New Pad

Hi all, as Darwin has had really low worm count readings, he's now off the paper and exploring his new home! I've tried out the coco coir and I think it looks a bit more exciting for him than the soil he had before with different textures to explore and hopefully stimulate him, this is the first time I've tried the coco coir and I think I've wet it a bit too much, but it is drying out nicely. Any suggestions welcomed to make it better for him, After Christmas, I'm planning on going up to the next size Ferplast cage, I think he's got enough room for a few more months.

If you think I can improve anything, please suggest and I'll try my best to do it

I think he's glad he's not on paper anymore, I've put his water bowl on the slate now, so hopefully I wont have the same problem again

Yeah, looks like a good lay out to me, just noticed I don't see a hide though

He wont use them, he digs down in the corner at night, if i put the hide in that corner he pushes out of the way. Do you think I should put one in anyway? It just takes up space that he doesn't use if its there. x

Hmm... that is an interesting point... Misha and Amber never used to use their hides but they do now... they do take up space though...
Do what you think is best... if he is happy without one I don't see the harm...

Ok, I think I'll go and get a different one tomorrow, the other one was a bit of overkill really for his size. Ha ha. I'll see how he goes with a different shape/size. Thank you xx

Ah that could be it, I have found they like ones they just fit in!
Try play sticks, I have a small one for Teabag and it is bent so its mostly flat but with a bump just big enough for her to turn around in

A pot would fine too - mine all have pots as well as habba huts. They even have playsticks as little bridges/hides too...but then I do spoil them!!

Looking good, he will enjoy digging down in the coco coir, like Emma says, a plant pot will do.
