Default Pond for?

I've made a pond!

Now my Ornate Boxie Pru is part of a happy family I've got a spare outdoor enclosure. So I decided to put a shallow pond in it.

I'm thinking of putting my young Three Toed Box turtles and perhaps my Yellow Mud Turtles in it for the summer. The Mud's spent a lot of time on land last year and the boxies like a swim.

The yellow muds will love it... just be sure that you are 100% happy it's escape proof... I have never know anything like a yellow mud for determination to climb, dig and wander as far as they can!

Thanks. I need to raid a pond for some plants and I hope I'll get away without a filter with just two small mud's and water changes.

Its had an Ornate boxie in for the last couple of years, its got a full mesh lid, locks (lasers, dobermans etc).

I will check it over cause of the bad winter, check for holes.

That is brilliant. I'm so jealous! I'd love a turtle pond. One day when I own a home... Oh the dreams.
And their eyes are beautiful. Really lovely turts x

Edit. Please humour someone who has just found a keen interest in turtles- do they need a heater in the water? I imagine it gets chilly. X

Hi,*

These are north american box turtles. They are terrestrial turtles who enjoy a swim rather than aquatic turtles.*

The waters not heated, most aquatic and terrestrial turtles that can be kept outdoors in the UK leave the water to bask so you just have to make sure they have a sunny spot to bask in.
