Default Lucky Reptile Bright Sun UV

This new product is a metal halide lamp which produces a lot of UV light and also heat using less power than the previous generation of UV lamps. This lamp requires an external ballast and is available in various wattages. It looks similar to the MegaRay external balast metal halide lamp that is not yet available - but produces more heat than that (I think)

Has anyone tried this with tortoises? The amount of UVB produced is very good and the light produced does not look yellow either.

Interested in any thoughts................Jonathan

Ozic have have experiance with this lamp but feel it unfair for me to rip it apart !!

Essentially the lamp is ok, however the light has a very small footprint of light and the UVB output is in a very narrow shaft.

I have the first of the MegaRay MH arriving in the next few days !

I know the lamp is being well received by hobbist keepers, i use a Megaray Metal Halide over some of my tortoises and the light quality is superior even to the SB megarays !

All i have heard is great things about this bulb, but the UVB output will not be as strong as a mega ray.

i know a petshop owner that has been testing these, he is a member on another forum. he has said that the LR MH lamps are fantastic, but that they do need some supplemental heating. The lucky reptile brand is a great value, high quality group. i have used alot of their stuff for a range of reptiles and cant fault it. their customer support is pretty amazing too.

If Dazza is going to have the first MegaRay metal halide lamps soon I'll go for that as I've found the current Mega's to be very good.
