Exclamation Flowers

today i picked up some pansies: 50p for 12 plants from B&Q
and violas : 30p for a big pot in tesco

Heck that is really cheap isnt it,how long do you leave yours for linda before you feed them to your torts?

this is the first time iv bought them from a garden centre, i usually nick my mams which have been there for ages!!
Im not sure i was thinking maybe a few wks, hopefully someone will come on and advise us =)

Im always very warry of using plants from garden centres god knows what soil they use and feeding aids, even new growth can take up the feed from the soil.

I think provided they are left to flower once then given to tortoises it is fine. They certainly would eat worse in the wild But always use caution when buying from garden centres and the likes of B&Q.

there are no flowers on the pansies it's just leaves the same on the violas.do you think I should wait for the first flowers to appear?

Yeah, I'd wait for a few weeks, Linds, I think someone on here said they wait for about 4 weeks , you never know what they've been sprayed with and give them a good water all over the plant every day if its not raining

It's likely to be raining!! Il leave them4 week and keep watering them.am I right that they can eat flowers and leaves? If bought some grasses for the reds table from bq aswel am I best to leave them 4 wks too

Don't know about the grasses, Linds leave them if you think your new babies wil eat them, I have Iberas and they don't touch the grasses so it probably not so important. However I wouldn't know if Reds eat them or not, hun
